Create a Personalized Emotional Safety Plan

to Navigate Emotional Triggers & High-Stress Situations

Have you ever experienced one of these  moments?

Someone shares with you that you hurt their feelings and you stop being able to hear them and get defensive?

You receive an email from your boss wanting a meeting with you and immediately your heart starts racing and think the worst?

When you're feeling worried about someone or something you just want to be alone,  sleep or distract yourself with work or TV?

When I work clients I encourage them to engage in emotional growth practices of their choosing because I've seen over and over again how practices help us remain steady during the process of change and transformation.

No matter how solid our emotional growth practice is, sometimes strong emotional triggers come up and we need tools and techniques to work thought them.

An emotional trigger is our internal reaction to a person, place, thing, situation or thought outside of us.

That strong physical and emotional reactivity can include:

Anxiety, stomach upset, pounding heart, shakiness, sweating, feeling cold or hot, feeling numb, feeling angry or charged, or just simply uncomfortable.

Common experiences that often facilitate an emotional trigger include:

rejection
betrayal
unjust treatment
challenged beliefs
helplessness or loss of control
being excluded or ignored
disapproval or criticism
feeling unwanted or unneeded
feeling smothered or too needed
insecurity
loss of independence

Emotional triggers are a part of the human experience but they also have the potential to they leave a trail of wreckage in their wake.

The good news, with self-understanding, care, attention and an emotional safety plan,  emotional triggers can be one of our BIGGEST gifts for emotional growth and healing ever.

The Science of Stress

Stress is a biological response to being pushed out of balance. Understanding the science of stress and what's happening in the brain is the most empowering thing you can do to start to manage it effectively. In this session learn what happens in the brain and body when we experience stress and understand the impact chronic stress and trauma has on the nervous system.

Triggers & The Body

Triggers and stress express themselves through the nervous system and too often we try to process emotional triggers before regulating the nervous system. In this session understand what emotional triggers are, how they express themselves in various ways when the nervous system is activated and discover nervous system regulation tools that will help you calm down so you can process your emotional triggers.

Session Two

Triggers & The Mind

There's a misconception that feelings fuel our triggers but it's actually our beliefs and mindset about a situation that can trigger our strong emotions. In this session learn all about The Drama Triangle, a model of dysfunctional social interaction triggered by faulty and negative thinking, and learn about several tools to reframe core beliefs, shift victim mindset and clear emotional charge.

Triggers & The Heart

We hold our deepest needs in the most tender places in our hearts. Our needs can be expressed in functional and dysfunctional ways when we're triggered through different aspects of ourselves. These aspects comprise an emotional landscape called your Inner Family and they are here to help us get our needs met. In this session, meet your Inner Family  and learn tools and techniques to work with getting their needs met.

The Emotional Safety Plan

An emotional trigger is the ultimate signal that something (usually trauma) is unresolved in you. Neutralizing the trauma under the trigger is the goal. In this session learn about The Emotional Safety Plan and how it can help you do just that. You'll take everything you learned in this course and design a personalized plan with tools and trigger processing techniques that work for you for processing emotional triggers and navigating high stress situations.

Hi! I'm Michele.

I'm an Emotional Embodiment Guide and mentor at Women Can Heal.

I always felt things bigger and deeper than most. I've been called too sensitive, intense and too emotional. I know what it's like to feel a lot and not have good ways to manage myself emotionally. To be overwhelmed each time a strong emotion hits and incapable of handling certain situations.

When I realized it was my responsibility to create a strategy and design support systems for myself I began walking through life in the best possible way I could. I took time to get to know myself and my emotional triggers and find the right tools and techniques to support me when I need them the most.

Emotional Growth Tools is informational and step by step guide to learning about stress and triggers and creating a plan to navigate high stress situations.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you thought about the course!
